The recall began in early 2007 when Menu Foods realized there was a problem with their pet food that caused animals to suffer kidney failure and die. Later on, it was discovered that the one of the ingredients was tainted with melamine, which is not supposed to be in pet food. Food importer involved in the scandal. They havent had much luck though, since most states classify pets as property, and arent worth more than their retail value.
