Redbelt Gets A No-Decision

David Mamet’s contributions to American Cinema are well-documented. Beginning with the The Untouchables and peaking in the acclaimed play-turned-movie Glengarry Glen Ross, Mamet examines greed and machismo while constructing an intricately plotted story. O’Henry-like twists are familiar devices in Mamet movies as are line repetitions and sarcastic rhetorical questions. We saw it first in Spartan and he returns to it again in his new mixed martial arts movie Redbelt, starring the adequately stoic Chiwetel Ejiofor.
