So just the big hit singles, then. Sadly, in the case of the latter song, Im far more familiar with the Weird Al Yankovic version than I am with the original… A particular shame, since the track turns out to quite be a moving slice of social commentary. Id always assumed it was just about straying from your girlfriend, but its actually quite a chilling street ballad. But since Ive only just picked up these recordings, theres no point in me sitting here cannibalising the Wikipedia articles, as if I had followed her story from the get-go.
