VA loans are available to active and retired members of the military, unmarried widows of veterans, and spouses of POW or MIA soldiers. VA foreclosures used to only be available to veterans of a military branch, but that is not the case anymore. Anyone can purchase a VA foreclosure, as long as the property will be utilized as the primary residence; it can not be used for a vacation home or a second home.
